Located upstream of the McNary Dam on Lake Wallula, at Columbia River Mile 300., this 8-acre park is maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and allows day-use and camping. The park provides great views of Wallula Gap upstream. Downstream is located Warehouse Beach Recreation Area and Hat Rock State Park.
The Wallowa Lake campground is surrounded on three sides by 9,000′ tall snow-capped mountains and a large clear lake. Outside the park area, within walking distance, is the Wallaowa Lake trailhead, horseback riding, canoeing, and tramway access to the top of Mt. Howard (8256 ft).
