From a Saddle Pendleton Oregon
~ Explore Pendleton a Horse Lovers Dream Vacation ~
Back in the 1880s, rangeland surrounded the town and thousands of head of cattle were regularly gathered in Pendleton and driven to markets in Montana and Wyoming. By the early 1900s, wheat farming and wool production dominated the local economy. The Pendleton Round-Up started in 1910 as a celebration of Eastern Oregon’s ranching history. Today, wheat fields surround Pendleton, but you don’t have to drive far south or east into the foothills of the Blue Mountains before you may start seeing horses, cattle and cowboys on working ranches.
